Graduate Student Teachers: Starting Strong

This course will help you identify the unique challenges of being a graduate student instructor, and to prepare effectively to be successful educators.

This course has been developed with Aeron Haynie and Stephanie Spong from the University of New Mexico, USA, and it includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed you will:

  • Identify the circumstances that you and other graduate instructors commonly face.
  • Put in place the foundations for student success in your courses by learning how to build classroom community.
  • Explore ways in which you can improve the learning experience when you don’t control curricula.
