Abby L. Ferber is a Professor of Sociology, and Women’s and Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, USA. Abby is also the co-founding Director of the Matrix Center for the Advancement of Social Equity and Inclusion and The Matrix Center’s signature programs: The Knapsack Institute: Transforming Teaching and Learning, and Graduate Certificate in Diversity, Social Justice and Inclusion at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Her teaching, writing, and service all coalesce around issues of privilege and oppression from an intersectional perspective. Abby has authored or co-authored dozens of articles and book chapters, many of which have been reprinted numerous times. Her books include Privilege: A Reader; Home Grown Hate; White Man Falling: Race, Gender and White Supremacy; and many others. She is especially excited about the student-centered textbook she coauthored: “The Matrix of Race: Social Construction, Intersectionality, and Inequality“. She writes for both academics and the public. Abby is a sought-after speaker and workshop presenter and is the recipient of numerous awards.
