Course

From Interaction to Engagement: Creating Participation Online

This course explores how you can gain participation and engagement from students in online synchronous environments without students using cameras or microphones.

This course has been developed with Lynn Gribble, Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales, Australia, with idea contributions from Janis Wardrop, Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales, Australia. This course includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed, you will:

  • Consider what type of interactions you are seeking from your students and how you might best elicit these responses – so this can be translated to designing online interactions.
  • Explain the ‘language’ of engagement for online classes and how to encourage students to use this.
  • Create an engagement system ready for use in your online synchronous classroom spaces.
