Course

Taking an Access-Based Approach to Technology with UDL

Go beyond simply adding digital tools by applying the principles of Universal Design for Learning  (UDL) across no-, low-, and high-tech levels. In this course, you will learn how to apply concepts such as fluid learning and digital accessibility to design equitable and interactive course content.

This course has been developed with Christina Moore, Associate Director at the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Oakland University, USA. It includes short videos, discussion prompts, and suggested practical activities to try. We recommend working through the lessons in order. At the end of each lesson, you will find a “Mark Complete” button at the bottom of the page. Once you have worked through all the lessons and marked them as complete, you will receive a course completion badge.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Define and differentiate between no-tech, low-tech, and high-tech learning in the context of UDL.
  • Determine how planning for a range of technology levels can increase learning options for diverse learners.
  • Identify existing tech-level strategies in your current teaching practices that align with UDL principles.
