Course
Small Teaching: Predicting
The act of making predictions activates prior knowledge and deepens learning. In this course, we will look at ways you can embed prediction into your classes, whether in person or online.
This course has been developed with Dr Todd D. Zakrajsek from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), USA, and Professor James M. Lang, the author of Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning, speaker, education consultant, USA. The course includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed you will:
- Understand the value of prediction and the evidence base for its impact on student learning;
- Know how to incorporate prediction into the teaching sessions, both face-to-face and online;
- Be aware of the principles that you can use to apply and adapt prediction activities to your own context.
