Hi, my name is Dawn Gilmore. I’m the Director of Quality Enhancement at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. RMIT is Australia’s largest university. I’m really excited to be here today. My passion and research area is in the area of online learning, in particular, the student experiences of learning in this space. The approach is to developing and training staff to teach online and the design and enhancement of program and courses suites (portfolios).
In this course, we’ll be looking at hands-on strategies and approaches for reviewing the courses you teach. These exercises are ideal for the end of the semester review after you’ve delivered a course or at any given point in time where you’re sitting down with yourself or a team to review and uplift your course.
Welcome to this course on reviewing and improving your course for a better student experience. By engaging in continuous improvement, you can ensure the compliance, academic quality, and enhancement of your course content and approaches to teaching and learning. Engagement in a regular review process for your course experience is imperative for all institutions and practitioners because it keeps your content and approaches to teaching and learning relevant for your students.
This course has been designed using strategies and advice to make reviewing and improving your course experience purposeful. The suggestions throughout require your reflection, challenge you to find evidence for your reflection, and encourage you to prioritise your actions. By doing so your course experience for your students can be improved incrementally so that you can understand the impact of your actions and make the best possible changes for the student experience.

- Share your perspective. Throughout this course, you will see discussion prompts at the end of each lesson inviting you to share your thoughts and experience. We encourage you to respond to these discussion questions and read those of other educators to benefit from theirs. When you see a comment you agree with or find helpful, hit the ‘Like’ button to help other educators find it. You can also reply to any comments from other members that you find interesting.
- Ask a question. You can ask questions of experts and other educators in the discussion threads in courses. If your question is more general, use Ask, Answer and Share in the community to reach more people.
- Pick up your course badges. To earn your Course Completion Badges make sure you mark all lessons as ‘Mark Complete’ once you have completed a lesson. At the end of the course, click ‘Mark Complete’ and you will be asked a few multiple-choice questions to earn a Course Completion badge. Once you’ve had a chance to apply your learning, come back to complete an Impact Badges by applying what you have learned in the courses and answering a short survey.
