Working with Emotion in Learning

Our course explores the value of emotion in study and how to use it beneficially. Emotion stimulates cognition and so, as educators, we need to engage with how to stimulate and use it to improve learning.

This course has been developed with Kate Ippolito from Imperial College London, UK and includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed you will be able to:

  • Understand how emotion aids the learning process.
  • Analyse the emotions created in your courses, determine whether they are desirable and foster ways of improving their impact.
  • Use Pekrun’s Control-Value Theory to explore emotional responses with students and colleagues.
