Classroom Practice: Active Learning
Active learning is a technique that enables students to engage with peers and reflect on what they're learning. In this course, we explore how to build active learning activities into time-limited class sessions.
This course has been developed with Dr Derek Bruff assistant provost and executive director of the Vanderbilt University Center for Teaching, USA. This course includes several short videos and should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. When completed you will:
- Understand the concept of active learning and the research base for the effectiveness of this approach.
- Know how to apply three active learning techniques in your classroom.
- Appreciate how these techniques can be applied in an online setting.
