Karen is a distinguished educator, global learning consultant, and award-winning researcher with over two decades of higher education experience. As a Distinguished Teaching and Learning Specialist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, USA, she spearheads faculty development initiatives to advance inclusive, evidence-based practices across digital learning environments.
An expert in online and blended pedagogy, adult learning theory, and emerging technologies—including Generative AI—Karen has empowered hundreds of instructors to design and teach transformative and inclusive courses. Her acclaimed scholarship on pedagogical transformation is published in leading volumes and presented at global conferences like EDUCAUSE, the Online Learning Consortium, the Professional and Organizational Development Network (the POD Network), and the International Consortium for Educational Development. She holds a PhD. in Adult and Continuing Education from UW-Milwaukee.
Beyond her academic expertise, Karen brings a uniquely rich global perspective to her work as a passionate traveller, photographer, and keeper of her father’s WWII legacy in the top-secret “Ghost Army,” fostering connection and community worldwide.
