David Clark is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Grand Valley State University in West Michigan, USA. He earned his PhD in 2012 at Michigan Technological University. David is a proponent of alternative grading in higher education and is the co-author of the book Grading for Growth. Beyond assessment, David studies combinatorics — the art and science of counting — and especially enjoys introducing students to mathematical research. He also serves on the senior staff for MathPath, a month-long residential enrichment program for middle school students. David is an avid photographer, backpacker, and boardgamer.
