Practice-Based Learning for Graduate Readiness

Join Jack Tims to learn about how your university can create real-world learning experiences for students — and make them work across all courses, not just individual modules. Drawing on examples from different faculties, Jack will explore a wide range of approaches to embedding real-world learning into the curriculum, including live briefs, employer engagement, cross-disciplinary projects, consultancy challenges, production residencies, and placement-linked partnerships.

In this webinar, Jack Tims, Head of Careers and Employability at Middlesex University, UK, will share how Practice-Based Learning (PBL) is evolving across the institution through authentic collaboration with employers, industry, and community partners.

The webinar will also look at how Graduate Competencies can be built into reflective assessment in ways that help students better recognise, articulate, and evidence the skills they are developing, strengthening their professional identity and supporting career readiness.

Through practical case studies and reflections on impact, attendees will gain insights into what has worked, what has been learned along the way, and how these approaches help students, staff, and external partners alike.

Participants will leave with adaptable ideas, practical examples, and actionable approaches that can be applied within their own teaching, assessment, and programme design.

This webinar will be recorded. If you're unable to attend the live session, please register anyway to ensure you receive access to the recording afterward.
