Improving Student Wellness by Becoming a Natural Mentor

This course explores how informally mentoring students can boost student wellness and learning. It also suggests practical, simple ways teachers can become such mentors.

This course has been developed with Robert Eaton from Brigham Young University, USA, and it includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed you will be able to:

  • Develop a better high-level appreciation of the impact of mental health challenges on students’ ability to learn and complete their education.
  • Understand research showing the connection between increasing the number of natural mentors to whom students can turn for help and increasing students’ ability to cope with mental health challenges.
  • Increase your commitment and capacity to naturally mentor students by implementing concrete, practical strategies.
