Classroom Practice: Engaged Lecturing
Lecturing, done well, engages the students in the learning process by stimulating interest in the topic, helping students to retrieve prior knowledge, and encouraging reflection to solidify newly learned information.
This course has been developed with Dr Todd D. Zakrajsek from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), USA, and it includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed you will be able to:
- Explain the actual overall research findings with respect to lecture and active/engaged learning.
- Provide examples of commonly accepted effective engaged lectures.
- Create more effective lectures by designing lectures that capture students’ attention, activates prior knowledge, and promote reflection to solidify learning.
