Activity: Research Your Organization’s Adoption of the Four Basic Online Tools

This course is intended to help you shift your approach to technology use to support online and blended learning interactions away from the tools themselves toward a function-based mind-set. This activity should take approximately fifteen minutes.
Compose your response in a word-processed format that includes the elements listed below.
Using the ‘core of four’ technology categories as a framework, list how many different tools your organization offers or supports for each tool type (your work on the pre-activity for this course should provide a solid foundation from which to work on this activity):
- personal file space
- calendar tools
- collaboration tools
- mobile-friendly channels.
For each tool category, analyze which tool you would recommend as the primary or only one to support, and say why you would decide that way (e.g., we already offer only one tool, other tools are not as easy to use, other tools do not have needed features).
Finally, compose a concluding section to your work in which you share your overall reasoning about the entire package of core tools. What key learning interactions do your suite of tools support? Are there other tools that you feel would also be ‘core’ tools, given your subject area or the type of institution?
