Event Details

In this free 75-minute interactive workshop, we will join as a community to take small actions on behalf of all life on this planet. Karen Costa will introduce you to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Inner Development Goals (IDGs). These two frameworks can guide and support your climate action pedagogy across all disciplines. You'll gain access to a free template that will help you assess your current use of SDGs and IDGs, reflect on this work, and set goals for your teaching. Most importantly, you'll have a chance to gather with colleagues, peers, and friends in a supportive, fun, open community of practice.

Who is this workshop for?

This CAP workshop builds on skills learned in the first series of Climate Action Workshops offered in the 2023-2024 academic year. That said, it is appropriate for educators who are totally new to CAP. Wherever you are on your climate action journey, you are welcome. All courses are climate courses. Please join us in making this a reality.

Come as you are. Cameras on or off. Children, pets, and action figures are encouraged. Climate action terrified, curious, or confident folks are all welcome.

About the facilitator:

This workshop will be facilitated by Karen Costa. Karen is an author, adjunct faculty, and faculty development professional working to support both faculty and student success in higher education. Testimonial:

Here is a testimonial from a previous Climate Action Pedagogy faculty learner:

"I wanted to share a comment from one of my master's in IT Management students about our project on smart microgrids that was inspired by the spring climate action pedagogy co-work session: "The most important thing I took from the experience is something I learned about myself. I learned that energy and sustainability are topics I am now passionate about. I can see myself working in the sustainable energy field in the future. Large monopoly power companies using oil, coal, dams, and gas production are socio-economic problems. Energy choices are changing worldwide with small systems using solar, wind, water, renewable sources, and battery storage. I have a new perspective on my future career and the impact I can make after the class experiences. The student team, professor guidance, research, and interviews with the CWU grid manager gave me a perspective about implementing a technical project with societal impact." I'm so grateful for the co-work session's inspiration and resource sharing that brought this about!"
