This course has been developed with Sarah Rose Cavanagh from the Center for Faculty Excellence at Simmons University, USA, and it includes short videos, an infographic and discussion prompts. When completed you will:
- Describe motivation, with an especial focus on achievement motivation, and consider how it relates to the work of higher education.
- Identify the three psychological needs critical to motivation, and target these in your course design, lesson plans, and assignments.
- Understand how goal setting energises behaviour and tap into lessons from three decades of goal setting research to motivate student learning.
