An Introduction To Online Workload Management

In this course, we will provide suggestions and templates for strategies and techniques that help to manage time and workload when teaching or learning online.

This course has been developed with Dr Kathleen Ives from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, who is also the Senior Vice President, Engagement for University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), USA. The course includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed you will:

  • Understand the five common workload challenges faced by educators teaching online.
  • Plan work that can be completed before, during, and after teaching periods to reduce workload.
  • Appreciate the importance of managing communications and expectations.
