Choice Meets Academic Emotions
All instructors want to promote positive academic emotions in their classrooms for their students. In this course, we will explore how giving students' choice over what they learn (process choice) and how they demonstrate their learning (product choice) can promote pride, joy, and hope.
This course has been developed with Jo-Ann Thomas and it includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed you will be able to:
- Recognise the importance of providing choice in instruction to promote positive academic emotions for students.
- Explore the use of product choice and devise opportunities for product choice in your course design and instruction.
- Explore the use of process choice and devise opportunities for process choice in course design and instruction.
