Billie Bennett Franchini currently directs the Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Learning, and Online Education (CATLOE) at the University at Albany, SUNY, USA. She oversees all aspects of teaching support for faculty and graduate students at Albany, with a focus on fostering meaningful student engagement through evidence-based active learning practices. She has co-written articles about Team-Based Learning and has delivered workshops for hundreds of college teachers about this teaching method. In addition, she has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses using this method. She has over twenty-five years of teaching experience and has worked in teaching and faculty development at the University at Albany for over fifteen years. She holds a Ph.D. in English Literature and an M.Ed. in English Education from the University of Georgia and an M.A. in English from The Florida State University.
