Dealing with AI: A Card-Based Approach to Human-Centered Learning

Carter Moulton
Event Details
How can educators integrate, interrogate, and respond to AI without losing what matters most in the classroom? Join facilitator Carter Moulton (Educational Developer, Colorado School of Mines, USA) as we outline a set of practical, human-centered classroom activities to foster critical engagement with AI while also deepening human connections in the classroom. Shuffling through the Analog Inspiration card deck and its recently released expansion, we'll explore innovative approaches to AI integration that promote values-driven teaching, increase intrinsic motivation, and preserve productive friction. Cards played will include concepts such as "joy," "friction," "sustainability," "responsibility," "celebration," and "problem identification." Ultimately, our collective reflection on human values, skills, and concerns can help anchor our pedagogical work in a time of exhausting uncertainty.
