Build a Course Companion: Your Materials, Your Rules

Lew Ludwig
Event Details
Most faculty have tried ChatGPT or Claude. Fewer have gotten past the blank chat box, where every conversation starts from zero, and the output sounds like it was written for someone else’s course. In this short session, Lew Ludwig, co-author, with Todd Zakrajsek, of The Science of Learning Meets AI, will show you how to build a “course companion”: a project workspace loaded with your own learning goals, syllabus, and a few examples, plus four standing instructions that tell the AI what it’s for, what it should sound like, where its edges are, and how to hand work back. Using an example from his own course, he’ll walk you through the build, show the moment the companion confidently got an answer wrong (and why your expertise is still the verification layer), and send you off with a one-page build sheet you can finish at your desk in under 30 minutes. Works on ChatGPT, Claude, or your campus platform, free tier included.
This webinar will be recorded. If you're unable to attend the live session, please register anyway to ensure you receive access to the recording afterwards.
