Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning
This course is a practical and reassuring introduction to Artificial Intelligence in teaching and learning. Designed for educators who are hesitant or just beginning to explore AI, the course shows how generative tools can enhance—not replace—your expertise, spark creativity, and support thoughtful, inclusive practice grounded in your own values and real classroom needs.
This course has been developed with Niya Bond and Vince Granito, and it includes short videos, activities, and discussion prompts. When completed you will be able to:
- Explain the fundamentals of generative AI (GenAI) and evaluate its potential applications, benefits, and limitations for teaching and learning in higher education.
- Compare and effectively use multiple GenAI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini) to carry out specific educational tasks, demonstrating an understanding of how different platforms produce varying outputs.
- Demonstrate the process of using GenAI to enhance teaching materials through guided prompting and critical evaluation.
