A to Z of Teaching

peer-led team learning [PLTL]

A teaching method whereby students who have performed well on a course are recruited as peer leaders.  The peer leaders then meet weekly with a small group of students to work through and discuss course material.

Pioneered at the City College of New York in the 1990s, the method has mostly been used in undergraduate science, technology, engineering and maths courses.
