lecture capture

The recording of lectures for students to watch later.

Lecture capture is often valued by students who may be unable to attend a lecture, or wish to recap points covered during a lecture which they did attend.

Critics of lecture capture fear that lecture capture will reduce in-person attendance and opportunities for interaction. Others worry that the recordings will reduce the willingness of students or lecturers to discuss personal or controversial topics. There are also concerns about the intellectual property status of recorded lectures, which could potentially be shared to public platforms.
